Note: Most "selenite" products on the market are actually a different formation of gypsum, called satin spar - true selenite forms in plates and is clear, whereas satin spar is more 'fibrous' looking and has an optic effect. Both are forms of gypsum, and have the same metaphysical properties, and historically, the names have - and can - be used interchangeably. Selenite/satin spar doesn't like water, so avoid getting it wet.
